I'm new to North Carolina and a cousin had mentioned this spot. Wow! It is by far the food place I have visited the most and I average nearly a weekly visit. I also drive 1 hour to get here and it's definitely worth it. Let's start with the price. $14.99 for lunch AYCE and the selection is pretty good. While not every single Chef's Special roll is on the list, it has plenty to keep one satisfied. The fish is fresh and the rolls are flavorful. They open at 11 for lunch but usually by 11:15/30 they are already a packed house and you may have to wait so plan accordingly. The staff are always pleasant and you will never leave with an empty belly. If AYCE (All You Can Eat) isn't worth it for someone in your party, they can order items a la carte. My 3 yr old loved the fried rice. Every time I go, people are enjoying themselves and I'm glad to have found this spot. Please expand to Fuquay or Garner!
For the price, you cannot beat Mr. Tokyo for sushi or hibachi! It features an all-you-can-eat menu that is made TO ORDER, so there are no worries about your sushi sitting out or riding around on a conveyor belt all day. Note that for those looking for smaller quantities of food, menu items are also available a la carte! Food comes to your table as soon as it's made, so be ready for an assortment of items coming at once. I go frequently with someone who has a shellfish allergy, and the staff has always been FANTASTIC about acknowledging this and we haven't had a single issue in the many times that we've visited. The food is always fresh, the hibachi is honestly some of the most well-cooked I've had, and the price point makes it an affordable outing for such an impressive amount of food!
This place was great! It was pretty busy for a Friday evening. Though the estimated wait time was only 20-30 minutes we got seated in about 10z Decor was cool. They have a little sushi mascot/statue in back. Staff were super friendly and efficient. All you can eat sushi for 23.99$ for dinner. (AYCE lunch price is even cheaper!) A TON of options to choose from. They have something for everyone. I was too excited that they did hand rolls (hardly anyone around here does them for some reason.) I forgot to write down what rolls I Actually ordered. lol. They were all so damn good. I ate every last bite. The miso soup was nice and flavorful , strong taste of seaweed. The tempura veggie app was decent. The stars of the show are definitely the hand rolls and sushi rolls. If you want some delicious sushi and you want to eat slot of it. Definitely come here.
Mr. Tokyo might just be my new favorite AYCE sushi restaurant that I have ever been to!! Wait time can be long as the restaurant itself is a bit on the smaller side, however, it is completely worth it! The sushi is fresh and you get a decent amount of fish. The rolls are more imaginative than most AYCE sushi places and they're definitely more flavorful, too. The restaurant doesn't have much going on for decor but the seats are fairly comfortable and we sat next to the window which was nice. Our waitress was super friendly and nice, though, we didn't see her often...so do order a decent amount the first time around. Do eat everything, though, as you will be charged per wasted item. I love Mr. Tokyo but I'm so sad it's a 50 minute drive from me! It's definitely a new favorite restaurant in NC!
I'm not one for all you can eat anything because I have the appetite of a bird - but $15 AYCE sushi/apps on weekday lunches? Uh yes. My daughter and I go here weekly to catch this amazing deal - on weekends it's around $25 a person but still well worth it for what you get. Basically we walk in right at 11 - if you come 30 minutes later, you'll see how quick the place fills up. Staff are extremely friendly and accommodating- for how busy they are, they keep up and are quick with bringing food out and bringing additional menus to fill out so you don't wait long for the next order to come in. I don't know anything about specialty rolls - we usually stick to avocado and sweet potato rolls, but they are great. The tables I do see getting the more elaborate rolls are happy with their orders and then some. Highly recommend this place if you're in Chapel hill and love sushi!
Best ayce sushi ive had! Fast service and good quality sushi, especially for the price. I'd recommend their nigiri over sushi rolls which I found to be too salty to eat fully. Their appetizers and hibachi were amazing as well. An absolute must visit in the area!
I ordered takeout from this place and wow. Top tier sushi. All of the chef specialty rolls are unique and look amazing. I opted for the spicy girl roll and the traditional Alaska roll. The spicy girl roll intrigued me with the asparagus because I've never eaten sushi with asparagus inside before. It was SO good. Sushi was so flavorful, fresh, and easy to eat. I wish I had gotten more specialty rolls because it was just great. The Alaska roll was pretty decent as well! I'll definitely come again in person for their all you can eat!
Been to Mr. Tokyo several times + their other location in Charlotte, and it's always been a hit whenever my friends and I are craving sushi AND hibachi! Dinner price is $23.99 for AYCE and you get to choose lots of options. Besides sushi, there's also kitchen appetizers (gyoza, seaweed salad, edamame, veggie tempura, etc) and hibachi. We went on a Tuesday night around 7:30 and we quickly got a seat. 1st course I always like to start w/ miso soup and then start on my fav rolls: salmon roll, spicy tuna roll, and spicy salmon roll. Sometimes I like to have them as a hand roll version but it depends on my mood. Usually for my 2nd course I do hibachi (steak or chicken) and ask for NO fried rice 'cause rice fills me up quickly, lol. My favorite specialty rolls are the Charlotte roll and Black Pepper Tuna roll.
Still pretty good, I trust that my food is safe from my allergies of shellfish. I was a bit sad that the Sunset Roll wasn't apart of the all you can eat sushi but glad to find a roll that is safe for me to eat and delicious! Waitress was really kind when I asked a ton of questions and requests. Didn't have to wait too long to get in and the waiting area did have chairs. Overall pleased and will be back soon!
